Marriott is the largest and richest hotel company in the world and can set the standard for the global hotel industry. Marriott’s 13 billion dollar acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 2016 made it even larger, with 6,500 properties worldwide.
In 2018, thousands of Marriott hotel workers who are members of UNITE HERE have contracts which are expiring. We will be negotiating new agreements and we are calling on Marriott to provide jobs that are safe and are enough to live on.
When a union contract expires, there is a possibility that the company will not settle a new contract in a timely way. During a labor dispute we may take actions up to and including leafleting, boycotts and strikes.
Our union is one of the most diverse labor unions in North America, with a majority membership of women, people of color, and immigrants. We are calling on Marriot to be a leader in providing jobs that are safe and enough to live on. We hope that you will join us.
This website is a service for customers of Marriott hotel properties. It is advised that meeting and convention planners and all other travelers check this website for labor disputes that could affect their travel plans. This website is maintained by UNITE HERE, the hotel workers union.
UNITE HERE represents 270,000 members working in the hotel, gaming, food service, manufacturing, textile, distribution, laundry, transportation, and airport industries in the U.S. and Canada, including many immigrant, DACA, and TPS members.
